The associated Way of the Cross was donated by a resident of Rohrbach in 1899 and built by the sculptors Josef and Peter Feile.

The shepherd According to legend, a heavy thunderstorm surprised a shepherd from Urspringen and his herd. All the sheep were gone with the wind, so they could no longer be found. The shepherd then vowed that he would erect a wayside shrine where he could find his sheep. He is said to have found his sheep where the cross chapel stands.

Building evidence suggests that the chapel was initially a hall open to the west, but that it was soon closed. The original interior with an expressive Pieta around 1490, two bishop figures of Saints Kilian and Burkard from the workshop of Tilman Riemenschneider around 1520, Saint Valentin and Saint Wendelin could have come here from the parish church after 1789, after Johann in the newly built village church Peter Wagner had set up his altars.
