The Eidenberger Lusen > a geotope

The summit of the Eidenberger Lusen is formed by steeply sloping, westward-facing cliffs made of diatectic gneiss. Extensive boulder fields lie below the summit. The summit cliffs and boulder fields are the result of profound weathering in the Tertiary and increased erosion in the Pleistocene. In exposed areas, loosened material was eroded down to the bedrock, thus exposing the cliffs. Loose boulders were transported downslope by soil flow. Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU).
