The memorial is octagonal in shape, narrowing into three rings toward the apex, where the church, built in the 17th century, stands. From the village, you can cycle up to the memorial along the Stations of the Cross, which are laid out as a wide road. From there, you'll enjoy wonderful views of Kobarid and the Soca Valley.

The ossuary stands high above the small town. It is under Italian administration to this day - as is the Calvary. When it opened in 1938, Kobarid was part of Italy.
