The Eiserne Steg has been a pedestrian bridge over the Main in Frankfurt since 1868 between the old town (Fahrtor, Historical Museum) and the district of Sachsenhausen (Schul-/Schifferstraße, Sachsenhausen Hospital). The first version was replaced in 1912 by a widened and strengthened construction, which was also raised. After it was blown up in the last days of the Second World War, it was rebuilt unchanged in 1946, but raised again in 1993 for renovation.
