The Niederscheld railway viaduct was built in 1871-1872 for the Dillenburg - Oberscheld railway line. With the continuation of the line to Biedenkopf, it was part of the Schelde Valley Railway from 1911. The viaduct spans the Scheldt and two roads with a total length of 120 meters. It is slightly S-shaped and thus adapted to the course of the valley. The railway line is routed over six equally sized arches, each with a clear width of 16 metres. The pillars, built in limestone masonry, are about 2.5 m thick.
The railway line was shut down at the end of May 1987. The track body has largely disappeared. The viaduct is a listed building. It is classified because of its historical importance in the context of mining history and "with its cut stone cladding, details such as the pillar templates, also (as) artistically significant".
