As you cycle past Rievaulx Abbey (pronounced REE-voh) you are rewarded with a fantastic view from the road. Once one of the greatest in England, it is still a formidable sight as a ruin.

There is a new visitors centre and cafe at the Abbey if you wanted to stop in this peaceful and calm spot along the River Rye.
