The real name is "Monastery of the Dormition of the Blessed Mother" (Uspenie Bogorodichno). It is considered the third largest monastery in Bulgaria and has the status "stauropegial", i.e. it is not subordinate to the Bishop of Lovech. The monastery was probably founded towards the end of the Second Bulgarian Empire.
