The Notre-Dame-de-l'Immaculée-Conception basilica is located within the ramparts of the old town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. Rebuilt in 1866, it is classified as a historical monument in 1982. The city was the seat of an old bishopric, of which this church was the cathedral, head of the diocese of Boulogne-sur-Mer having existed between 1566 and 1801 (year during which it is dissolved to be integrated entirely in the diocese of Arras).
