    Parish Church of St. Margaretha

The church was built in the early Middle Ages and was first mentioned in a document in 924. Söchtenau was the main branch of the parish of Prutting. As early as 1287 and again in 1406, the services between the parish church in Prutting and the Söchtenau branch were regulated. In 1451, Christian Pab, a citizen of Wasserburg, set up a weekly mass foundation in the church. Finally, in 1486, the congregation instituted a perpetual daily mass on the St. Ursula altar. In 1638/1645, this incurate benefice was converted into a curate or expositur. The curates of Söchtenau were referred to as vicars, but often simply as cooperators. After secularization, the curate was converted into a parish vicariate in 1805 and raised to a parish in 1829. – In 1455 the Schonstetter appear as feudal lords of the church. Later, since the end of the 15th century, secular administration was the responsibility of the Kling court. The church was well endowed. – 1738 Introduction of a brotherhood to the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
