The Talevi and Filevi families are the two families in Ohrid that produce genuine Ohrid pearl necklaces, rings, earrings and brooches. This craft is passed on from one generation to the next, but traditionally only to the sons of the families.
The Ohrid pearls are made from shells and coated with 5-7 thin layers of an emulsion made from the flakes of the Ohrid fish Plashica.
