Fürst Leopold Colliery

In a small space at the Fürst Leopold colliery, many elements that were typical of a mine in the Ruhr area can still be viewed and understood years after coal mining was shut down. In addition, the core area of the colliery around the colliery square with wage hall and machine houses is still very nice to look at.There is the colliery site with the typical winding tower and the associated machine hall, which you can even visit and where some art is exhibited. A well-developed cycle path runs along the old colliery railway from the former heap in the north to the port on the Wesel-Datteln Canal in the south. It passes the workers' settlement immediately adjacent to the colliery and makes it easy to get there by bike from the long-distance cycle path along the Lippe.
