' At its premiere, the bronze statue not only sparked enthusiasm among the people of Spremberg. In the meantime, however, they have made their peace with the 540 kg pear tree bronze, which was inaugurated in December 2003 - and it is definitely worth a short stop at Rainer-Scheudeck-Platz for those passing through. '
(loosely adapted from an article in the SZ)Also on display as bronzes are robber captain Heinrich Oswald Lauermann, Harri Piel and night watchman Kuhlke.

A nice idea with the Spremberger originals. I think robber Lauermann and night watchman Kuhlke are very nicely designed. In the case of Mother Birnbaum, the market woman, a somewhat more appealing design would certainly have been possible, but that is also artistic freedom. But definitely worth a detour on our Spremberg circuit.
The only thing that was a bit difficult was to set the scene nicely with a photo, as the environment wasn't quite as appealing.
