Very nice view, tables, benches and a fireplace are available. The driveway is best at the southern end of Muthmannsdorf.
From the 17th century until after World War II, the reddish, white marble was quarried here. It was used in the baroque design of St. Stephen's Cathedral, at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, at the (old) Vienna Südbahnhof, many ring road buildings, most recently on the Nuremberg Reichsparteigelände and on the "Russendenkmal" on Schwarzenbergplatz.
The low compressive strength and susceptibility to air pollution made mining unprofitable.
There are several sculptures from the 1990s on the site.

In 1997 and 1998 the quarry was freed from overgrowth, dug down to the rocky subsoil, surveyed geodetically and provided with information boards. On June 7, 1998, it was ceremoniously presented to the public as a "geotope" and technical monument. It has become a popular tourist destination. [wikipedia]
The best way to reach the quarry is by bike via the southern driveway from Muthmannsdorf.
