At the Col de Bussang, the Mosel springs and from here it takes its winding path to Koblenz, where it flows into the Rhine.
That's 550 kilometers of river and it gives you an idea of how much it meanders. Because as the crow flies this distance is not 280 kilometers.
As a native of Moselle almost a place of pilgrimage for me. ; -)

The source of the Moselle is a vivid example of how a small trickle channel can become a large river. The spring system is nicely processed and a nice starting point for hikes.

A tip for the approach from Bussang: you should turn left in the direction of the Moselle source and not follow the pass road. You can turn left just before the pass, but the point is easy to miss.
