Château de Bois Sir Âme is a ruined castle built at the end of the 14th century and the beginning of the 15th century by Jacquelin Trousseau, a wealthy merchant and courtier of Jean de Berry, brother of King Charles V. The castle was frequented by the king Charles VII, who loved spending time there with his mistress and advisor, Agnès Sorel. He also organized lavish parties and diplomatic meetings there. The castle is today protected as a historic monument, but it is in a state of disrepair and is only accessible on foot. You can explore the remains of the fortifications, towers, chapel and moat, and imagine the splendor and intrigue that once reigned here.
