Bike Touring Highlight
The Triefenstein Abbey was founded at the beginning of the 12th century and was an Augustinian monastery for more than 700 years. Of course, the widely visible Classicist monastery church dates only from the end of the 18th century. With the secularization in 1803 the monastery complex became the property of the princely house Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg. A varied use followed, until 1986, the Protestant Christian Brotherhood acquired the monastery and restored. Today, the monastery serves as the spiritual center of the Brotherhood and a place of silence and prayer.
