A Timmendorfer landmark is the lighthouse, in the immediate vicinity of the beach.The Timmendorfer lighthouse was put into operation on 1 October 1872 and increased in 1931 by 3.6 meters to its present height of 21 meters. This part remained uncoated in contrast to the white painted lower part. Since 1978, the tower works remotely. From 1996 to 1997, the listed brick tower had to be stabilized and therefore partially rebuilt.
