Droß Castle, formerly also called Droß Castle, is a listed castle.

1156 "Ruediger de Drozze" is mentioned for the first time. The castle chapel of St. George is mentioned as early as 1135. In 1295 the castle became sovereign. In 1427, Albrecht V gave the castle as a fief to Georg Mühlfelder, subject to the patronage of the church, in view of the services rendered in the defense against the Hussites. His descendants are enfeoffed by King Ladislaus Postumus with the entire Droß Castle, but again with the exception of the Droß church patronage.

From 1604 the owners changed frequently (including the counts of Abensperg and Traun). In 1671 a fire damaged the castle, which was rebuilt in 1726. In 1884 the castle came to Wilhelm Ritter v. Gutmann, whose family remained the owner until after 1945. Towards the end of the Second World War, until the liberation in May 1945, Hungarian Jews were housed here who were used as forced laborers for forest work and for work in various companies.

Then the Austrians follow. Bundesforste and ultimately the current owner, Franz Haubenberger.
