Mosbach Castle is a listed ensemble in Mosbach, Baden-Württemberg, that has served as the seat of a ministerial since the High Middle Ages. It took on the role of a fortified castle. It was not until 1410 that Count Palatine Otto I made Mosbach his residence.
In 1439 he had the residence expanded considerably. So "the castle also served the Heidelberg electors as a place of refuge from epidemics, since Mosbach, unlike Heidelberg, was off the main travel routes".
It was not until 1898 that the old castle became a picturesque residential building. Since then it has often changed hands. In 2019, the Bochmanns bought the castle in order to make the Bochmann Foundation and thus the castle accessible to the public.
