The church in Alt Sammit is probably even older than the town church in Krakow am See. Its masonry is made of fieldstone. The church used to be a village church, but also a castle church for the nearby castle. It was also a prayer church for merchants who had to venture through the Schwinzer Heide. This was not easy, as the Schwinzer Heide was controlled by many robbers at that time. It can therefore be said that the village church in Alt-Sammit was something like a highway church of the Middle Ages. In 1636 there was a battle between the Swedes and the Imperials in Alt-Sammit, during which the village, the castle and the church were completely destroyed. This was the reason why almost all residents had to leave the village.

In this area, old brick buildings dominate the scene. This is also the case here: architecture of a special kind.

It dates from the second half of the 15th century. The simple field stone building was completely destroyed several times. The originally towerless church received a slender brick tower in 1863, which was added to the west side. Around 1960 the building was so dilapidated that it was closed and the inventory was outsourced. Then she fell apart. Between 1984 and 1986 the church was rebuilt from the rubble by the residents and was rededicated in 1987. Inside there is an unusual altar motif by the Schwerin court painter J.F.Wilde, which shows the Christ sun in the middle of the four evangelist symbols. In front of it is an expressive crucifix bearing an inscription from 1699.
Also worth mentioning is the wood-framed Pieta, which is dated to the mid-15th century.
