Connected to the mainland by a granite pier, the Gatteville lighthouse is located on the tip of Barfleur. Built between 1829 and 1834, it is made up of 11,000 granite freestones. Its construction has become essential to guide navigators in the dangerous passage of the Raz de Barfleur.
