The Grote Kerk on the market is a Reformed church, but looks remarkably opulent. The Neo-Renaissance design is by JAG van der Steur, who has brought back elements of the previous church into the building. For example, the tower of the new church has the same onion-shaped tower. However, it was decided to build the choir to the west, so that the tower would be more prominent in the extended city in the east.
The building was completed in 1897. In 1923, the interior of the ship was shortened by a wooden partition over the last two bays. The church was restored in 1978. The church stands in the middle of the market, in the center of Schagen, with the tower on the east side.

Around the market square there are some beautiful old houses with stepped gables from the 17th and 18th centuries. In the middle of the square stands the Grote Kerk with its tower, which can be seen from afar.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schagen
