Former quarry in the Osterwald, now Naturschutzgebiet.Ganz near the Sennhütte.Das nature reserve includes the former Upper or St. Avold quarry with a natural lake, the riparian zones and adjacent tree and shrub vegetation. The quarry, one of several in the Osterwald, was opened in 1900 and used as a sandstone quarry until 1964. [1] Source Wikipedia.
