Sturmius, contemporary of Boniface and Emperor Charles the Great, was the founder and abbot of the monastery Fulda. He is said to have brought the wine to the Saale valley. The Diebach chronicle sees it as proven that the first vines grew in the Saale valley on the Sturmiusberg.
