Seligenstatt, a Benedictine monastery, of which today only remnants of the outer walls up to 6 m high are preserved, presumably goes back to a foundation by the Counts of Runkel. In 1181 it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Trier, which entrusted the nuns to the spiritual supervision of the abbot of Maria Laach around 1215.

Idyllic monastery ruin - one of my favorite places. You can not get past it - but the detour is definitely worth it! Not to be missed is the visit to the exhibition hut, which gives much information about the monastery. Great that there is a club that wants to preserve this ruin!

Some of the ruins of the monastery, which was abandoned in 1440, can still be clearly seen. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to guess much about the overall structure of a monastery. Still worth a look.
