The drugap is one of the towers in Zutphen, which gives it the name Torenstad. The tower was built as a city gate in the 15th century and opened on Saltmarkt (today Zaadmarkt). The gate was therefore called Saltpoort until 1555. Then the city trumpeter Thonis van Grol (he came from Groenlo) came to life. He earned the nickname Dry Nap. The meaning of the word nap is cup. But it can also mean a wallet. It is unclear whether Thonis was often drunk or had no money. Maybe he was a penniless drunk. Since then, however, the tower has been called Drugsap.
