Walkersbrunn looks back on a long history. A first documented mention of our historic church "to the holy graves" dates back to the year 1021.
Walkersbrunn lies behind the Hetzlesberg in the upper Schwabach valley, in the middle of a gentle hollow of meadows and fields. However, the church is not in the village, but on a steep hill between the slopes towards Kasberg. No one knows why she is up there. But it surprised everyone who saw it.

Once the Walkersbrunners tried to move their church down to the village. It had been dilapidated for a long time, was demolished and was to be built bigger and more beautiful down in the village. But that didn't please the saints who were worshiped up there in the chapel, at least that's what the people say.

The site for a new church was determined. The ground was dug up, stones and mortar, bricks and wood were brought in in large quantities, and the tools and scaffolding were brought to the spot. But in the night everything disappeared from the site. Looking for it, it was found up on the spot where the old chapel had stood. You couldn't understand it and with great difficulty you brought everything back down to the village.

But the mysterious story repeated itself the following night, so that the people of Walkersbrunn finally realized that God and the saints did not want their church to be built down in the village, but up there on their old, venerable site. The Walkersbrunners gave in and built their new little church on the mountain.
