Overlooking the Chapelle des Buis, the Monument de la Liberation undoubtedly offers the most complete view of this GRP. On one side, it offers a distant panorama of the city of Besançon. On the other, it projects you onto the plains of the Doubs.

In a very green and open setting - this is not so often the case on the GRP, because the path crosses the woods - this Monument also shelters an important part of Besançon's history.

Fort, then place of worship, the Liberation Monument is today classified by the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) as a privileged place for ornithological observation. Up there the birds of prey are never far away.
