Tips

  • Drache

The Eibele stream is a border river between Allgäu and Vorarlberg. The stream flows into the Eibele reservoir and from there falls further down into pipes to a power station on the Weißach.
In summer, the Eibele waterfalls are a popular bathing spot for locals and tourists.
So far, the space has not been overrun. Especially for families with children, the square in front of the waterfall is a natural playground and the waterfall is a feast for the eyes.

The waterfall reaches 40 meters in depth over several levels. An interesting spectacle with plenty and with little water.

An impressive waterfall, not overrun by tourists and below there is also the opportunity for children to play safely on the water!

The Eibele waterfalls are right on the border between the German Allgäu and the Austrian Vorarlberg and are ice-cold refreshment after a summer hike.

Small and a little hidden, this is still an insider tip for me.

Nice waterfall with a large gravel pool. Fortunately not so well known and therefore not overcrowded

Not the largest and a bit hidden, but the place under the waterfall is all the quieter and more beautiful! A detour is definitely worth it.

At the Eibele Falls, the Eibele Bach plunges down two levels. The waterfalls were created because harder and softer layers of rock alternate in the course of the stream. A few hundred meters downstream, the Eibele Bach, which also marks the border between Austria and Germany, flows into the Weißach.
Since 1961, the two-stage Eibele Falls have been used by the Weißachtal power plants to produce electricity. With its two Francis spiral turbines, the run-of-river power plant (47m head) generates 1.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
The Eibele Waterfall is in a very idyllic location and not overcrowded by tourists. You can take a nice break there and refresh yourself with the cool water.

The Eibele waterfalls are beautiful and consist of 3 levels, all of which are accessible laterally via stairs / paths. Ideal refreshment on a hot day or a strenuous hike, because the water is freezing cold.
