The approximately 4.3 ha rhododendron park is a bit hidden on the Berlin Ring.Due to the boggy soil, the terrain was not available for building. The park was created in connection with the construction of the Berliner Ring in 1961 and the following housing development on the Moorstraße. During excavation, soil excavation was carried out on the site.In the zoning plan adopted in 1962, the park area was spatially determined and the construction of a rainwater retention basin planned. The retention basin was later built as a pond. There, the rainwater from the channel system south of the Meldauer Berg is cached. The planting of the rhododendron park was partially carried out with plant donations of the Verden population

We have visited the rhododendron park several times, but we have never seen the park so neglected! Pity ...!
