In 1245, construction of the Beguinage Church began.

The plan consisted of three naves and a non-protruding 13th century pseudo-transept, the choir and side chapels date from the 14th century.

The facade did not have a bell tower, only the pointed arches of the nave have been preserved against the facade.

In 1976, the church was largely destroyed by a violent fire.

After restoration in 1997, the ruin was converted into a promenade park.
