The Geological Garden in Bochum is one of the few locations in the Ruhr area that gives a good insight into the geological structure of the coal and overburden rock that is typical in the Ruhr area. There are boulders on the meadows. These are found gneisses and red granite. The Geological Garden is located in the Altenbochum district.

The Geological Garden Bochum in the Altenbochum district was created in 1971 and shows various geological structures typical of the Ruhr area from several geological ages with explanations on boards. The site was previously used by a colliery and then as a quarry for a brick factory.
The area is somewhat hidden, approx. 400 meters away from the Springorum cycle path between the New Bochum high school and the allotment garden complex Glockengarten. The area should have unlimited access all year round, but you should go there in the light if you want to see something!More information: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geologischer_Garten_Bochum
