    From 1945 to 1990, Point Romeo was one of four US observation bases on the former inner-German border on the Hessian side. The other three were: Point Alpha (Rasdorf), Point India (Ringau-Lüderbach) and Point Oscar (Eichenberg, Werra-Meißner-Kreis). On the information board you can learn a lot about the history of the observation point and the Cold War, old photos and drawings show what it used to be like up here. As with the other former bases, you have a wonderful view of Thuringia when the weather is clear.
