The Upper Lock in Oberbiel (Lahn km 19.260) was built by the Prussian administration between 1843 and 1848. It has standard dimensions of 34.00 m long and 5.34 m wide. The drop at mean water level is 3.15 m. The lock, like the Niederbiel Lock downstream of the Lahn, is located on the 1,400 m long lock channel. The "original appearance of the lock channel, bridge, and keeper's house" (monument topography) has been largely preserved. The lock is a cultural monument for reasons of technical history.

Hand-operated lock in the Lahn, which is heavily frequented by canoeists in the summer months. They are happy when you lend a hand and help crank.
