Banyalbufar, which is nestled on the steep slopes of the Tramuntana, is famous for its steep terraces that stretch up the mountain like a patchwork of stone walls. The first terraces were built in the 10th century and were originally used to grow wine and olives, which could only be cultivated in this way in the barren environment. Today, of course, they offer a great panorama for tourists and hikers.

The terraces of Banyalbufar are stunning! The GR221 runs through here, it's a great place to resupply before continuing along the trail.
