Tips
Nice route, the climb from Castel San Pietro towards Alpe di Caivano is steep, on a cobbled road with bumpy sections, difficult without an EMTB. The descent is steep and could be risky due to the potholes. From Alpe di Caivano it is better to go through Generoso to Osteria La Peonia and then go down to Mendrisio.

Beautiful mountain pasture at 970 m on the southern side of the Monte Generoso massif. Wide-ranging view of the Po Valley and if it is clear you can see Monviso and the Monte Rosa massif. There is a refuge with beds, but you have to book.
