The Neptune fountain, nicknamed al Żigànt in dialect ("the Giant" in Italian) by the people of Bologna due to the size of the statue of Neptune, is located in Bologna in Piazza del Nettuno.
Fruit of the collaboration between Giambologna and Tommaso Laureti, the work was commissioned by Pier Donato Cesi (1522-1586) to glorify the papal government of Pope Pius IV and was finished in 1566.
