The green twin mill was built in 1856. In 1921, the master miller Gerhard Schoof bought this mill and operated it commercially until 1964 and for personal use until 1972. In autumn 1972, operations had to be stopped. A violent storm broke the wings and paralyzed the windmill. It served as a storage room for several years. In 1975 the mill was sold to what was then the north district. In cooperation with the "Association for the Preservation of the Greetsiel Twin Mills", which has also existed since 1975, the broken wing was repaired in 1976 and a tea room with an art gallery was set up on the two lower floors of the windmill.
