Thanks to the initiative of the Verkehrsclub Deutschlands (VCD), this railway line, which has been closed for decades, is again used on Sundays, so that you can travel comfortably by train in the footsteps of Hermann Hesse to the UNESCO World Heritage Monastery in Maulbronn. Hermann Hesse himself still had to walk from Maulbronn to Westbahnhof on the main line. In the morning, at noon and in the evening, the regional shuttle runs from Tübingen or Horb, Nagold, Calw and Pforzheim to Maulbronn. During the day it connects the monastery town
with the Maulbronn West train station – with connections to and from Mühlacker, Stuttgart, Bretten and Bruchsal.
cycling tip
The route of the Kulturbahn runs from Nagold to Pforzheim almost identically to the Nagoldtalradweg. Ideal for cycling sections and seeing sights along the way, such as the monastery of St. Peter and Paul in Hirsau and the Black Forest town of Calw - the birthplace of Hermann Hesse. It is particularly beautiful here in July and August, when the city and monastery are transformed into a festival stage.

Good to have this nearby in case there's a storm, or you get tired and want to ride back home in comfort :)
