The current church presents an aspect that is the result of its transformation in the Baroque period, despite its medieval origin. The construction of the primitive church was due to the authorities of Daimiel and the Order of Calatrava. In the current building the walls were raised, a rampart was built for the vault and the dome was built. This sanctuary houses the patron saint of Daimiel, the Virgin of the Crosses, a 14th century carving for which the Daimiel population feels great devotion. Since the 18th century and to this day, the sanctuary consists of the church and next to it a large patio with semicircular brick arches that support the corridors, these look out onto the patio between right feet and balustrade, giving way to the different rooms upstairs which, together with those on the ground floor, are rented by pilgrims.
