The Renaissance-style castle has round corner towers at the front. In the small inner courtyard there is an octagonal stair tower with a spiral staircase, the steps of which are not attached to a pillar as usual, but to a spindle carved in stone. This construction has often been called the 9th wonder of the world. The castle is privately owned and cannot be visited.To the left, directly adjacent to the castle, there is a manor with farm buildings from the 18th/19th century. This also includes the manor sheep farm, just under a kilometer away, a baroque complex from 1713, which houses the Coburg region's equipment museum.To the east of the castle is the castle church, which was created from a Gothic castle chapel, with two magnificent epitaphs of the Lords of Streitberg.Source:

Ahorn Castle in its current form was built by Joachim von Rosenau after the Peasants' War in 1555 on the remains of the older castle complex.
