It is about the life and martyrdom of Saint Castulus, who was buried alive by Emperor Diocletian around 287. The picture was created by Max Lacher in 1946. Under the impression of the crimes of National Socialism and the inhuman brutality of the Nazis, Max Lacher gave the torturers the faces of the war criminals Hitler, Goering and Goebbels. So Hitler and the other murderers came to Landshut Martinskirche. Very unusual for me, but well worth seeing after reading the story.
