The name Duplewice appears in previously known written documents from the 15th century. At that time, the village belonged to the Groty family, coat of arms of Rawicz. Their progenitor was a knight named Grot, mentioned in 1452, who is known to be the owner of the nearby Tokary estate and held the office of the Drohicki military man. He was inherited by the widow Anna and their son - Leonard (1475).
