Palafolls Castle is a medieval military building located on top of the Castle Hill in the municipality of Palafolls (Maresme) and close to the coast. The fortress is located on the crest of an elongated, low-lying mountain that stretches from northwest to southeast and almost parallel to the river Tordera. Very dilapidated, it was built dominating the panorama of the lower course and the fertile plain of the river Tordera, in a strategic place to control the main road from Girona to Barcelona along the coast. [1] It became the center of the important barony of Palafolls in the county of Girona, whose jurisdiction extended to the current terms of Malgrat, Palafolls, Santa Susanna and part of Blanes. It is a building declared a cultural asset of national interest
