Langenrade Windmill Sventana

The only fully functional of the three windmills within the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park is in Ascheberg-Langenrade.
The windmill with the name "Sventana" was built in 1860 in Kleinmühlen near Plön. In Ascheberg, the mill has only been standing since 1890 as a replacement for a burnt down predecessor. In 1982 three couples who were enthusiastic about mills decided to make the mill functional again. After considerable financial expenditure and many hours of work, the one-storey gallery Dutchman has been windy and fully functional again since 1990. The mill and its keepers received the German Prize for Monument Protection in 2012. The Sventana mill has even been recognized as an intangible world cultural heritage by Unesco since 2019. Today I went to get flour from Mr. Karstens in the Langenrader mill. With the nice weather a great overland tour. Since he had time, I was even allowed to take a photo tour of the mill, which is otherwise only possible on mill day! He sells rye, wheat and spelled flour.
