    Watermill in Federlohmühlen
It is no longer possible to determine exactly when the water mill in Federlohmühlen was built. In 1975 the Lüneburg-Stade Chamber of Crafts presented the mill with an honorary certificate for the 375th anniversary of the company; but it is quite possible that the mill existed before 1600.
Over the centuries the mill has been rebuilt several times. Even today, different dates can be found in and on the building, which suggest major renovations (1789, 1852, 1895).
A special feature of the Federloher Mühle is the overshot waterwheel, a design that is very rarely found in our part of the world. The grinder was powered by water until 1974. Up until that time, grain was also ground commercially for farmers in the surrounding villages.
An electric hammer mill was later used here until 1985 for personal use. Since then the building has been largely empty.
In 1998 planning began for the restoration of the mill. In 1999, the repair work began. Among other things, the original grinding process was restored and a new water wheel was installed. The renovation was completed in time for Mill Day, Whitsun 2000.
The original layout and function of the mill can still be easily recognized by anyone today.
Federlohmühlen is extremely attractive for visitors. A small tributary of the Wümme flows through a meadow valley characterized by water, forest, heather and moor.

Trail along the water. Rather for bikes with studs / off-road tires. City bikes should be pushed.

Beautiful water mill whose outdoor area can be visited all year round. You can only get to the mill at certain times (see Balu's tip).
