Tips

  • ROBERT, mit dem Rad & Hund durchs Land.

The Rurstausee is located in the Aachen city region and the Düren am Kermeter district between the Heimbach district of Hasenfeld in the northeast, the Nideggen district of Schmidt and the Simmerath district of Rurberg in the southwest. Locations from which access to the reservoir is possible are Heimbach, Rurberg (Obersee), Schmidt-Eschauel, Schwammenauel and Woffelsbach (sorted alphabetically).
The Rurstausee is about 10.6 kilometers long Rur river [4] (at about 5 km [4] as the crow flies between the end of the lake and the dam) when the dam is reached. Then it has about 7.83 km² [1] total area and 203.2 million m³ of storage space. The reservoir root of the water is - above the Obersee - 24 km [1] from the Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel.

The area around the Rursee is so huge that it never seems overcrowded. The paths are beautifully landscaped by the water and offer something for everyone. Whether on foot, by boat or by bike ...

The Rurtalsperre is worth a visit. Whether one walks around it completely or only one passage goes, the eye is offered a lot. Also above the lake there are numerous great routes.

Rursee .... in every season you can go on wonderful hikes here. Between April and October you can shorten routes with the Rursee Schifffahrt from some stations

A little off the Rursee, great hikes - sometimes with a great view of the lake - can be undertaken
