Höfener Hut

Our hut is located at 1,000 m high above the Dreisamtal in a wonderful location.In spring, summer and autumn, the terrace of the Höfener Hütte offers a wonderful view of the Dreisamtal when the weather is nice. In cooler weather or when it rains, the cozy dining room invites you to linger.The Höfener Hütte was first mentioned as an alpine pasture in the middle of the 17th century. The Höfner Hütte forest and pasture cooperative has existed for over 200 years. It was founded by four farmers from Burg Höfen - hence the name "Höfner Hütte". Like other huts in the Black Forest, the Höfener Hütte was originally built as a cattle hut and accommodation for the Herder, who had to look after the young cattle of the pasture cooperative, around 50 animals on 75 hectares, during the summer. This is still one of the tasks of the hut keeper today.
