.... The castle ruins Hohengenkingen is located on the plateau of the Mittlerer Kuppenalb near the much better known fog cave.

Actually, you can hardly speak of a castle ruin. The correct term would be Burgstelle. Because on site you only see very little masonry. However, the ditches and paving areas of the former castle are still recognizable.

The hilltop, on which the castle ruins is located, is located about 1.5 kilometers southeast of Genkingen, a suburb of SonnenbĂĽhl. However, the hilltop now belongs to the suburb of Undingen, which is located southwest of the summit. The castle Hohengenkingen was one of three Genkinger castles. Details of the castle are not known. Presumably, the castle was founded in the 12th century.

The surroundings of the castle ruin Hohengenkingen is densely wooded. A visit to the hilltop is worthwhile, despite the lack of panoramic views and the sparse remains of the castle. There is a natural forest with many mossy stones and rocks. The place exudes a certain magic. Particularly impressive is the contrast to the overcrowded fog cave in the neighborhood.

The text of NiLi is wrong, it is about the second Genkinger ruin
