The lodge stands on the small plain of Zeleniški sedlo between the northern wall of Begunjščica and the southern slope of the border ridge Na Možeh. The first hut on Zelenica was built by five private individuals in 1929, but they did not want to rent it out to the Tržič branch of the SPD; the hut was burnt down during the occupation. In 1950, the workers of the militia school, which was then in Begunje, began to build a mountain lodge; On 15 December 1952, PD Tržič took over the unfinished home, which it trained in an emergency and opened the following year. With a contract between RSNZ, which was the owner of the building, and PZS, on July 24, 1962, PD Tržič acquired the building in permanent ownership. After the takeover, the outpost was completely completed and equipped, and it was ceremoniously opened on 19 January 1966. In 1992, the entrance extension was added and a study room was acquired. The home burned down completely in December 1999. The Society restored it, built it, and it is now reopened. The Mountain Learning Center also operates within the home.

The view from home or from a nearby point of view is limited due to the nearby peaks and ridges, but the view of the surrounding area is so much more beautiful. From the nearby upper station of the chairlift there is a view of the stone plateau between the ridge of Ljubeljščica in the north and the walls of Begunjščica on the south side of the plateau, along which the chairlift runs and further towards Šentanska dolina, above which rises the western part of Košuta; the entire southern side is met by the walls of Begunjščica; on the west side is the undulating valley of Zelenica, above it rises Srednji vrh, which obscures the view towards Stol; to the northwest is Vrtača; the northern side is bordered by the Na Možeh ridge. If we climb to the lookout top of the ridge, we have a beautiful view of the hilly Carinthian landscape towards the Drava.
